About Project
For centuries, Gori has been one of the most important cities in the history of Georgia, although many stories about the city are not known to the general public: The magnitude of the 1920 earthquake, the importance of Gori in life of Vazha-Pshavela, the democratic and cultural tradition of the city, and many other stories. The aim of the project is to promote the alternative and sometimes forgotten history of the city/region and to celebrate outstanding historical moments and figures. It also aims at finding, describing, and communicating the rich and unique historical and contemporary features of the city and region to the wider public, be it local or visiting people. It thus highlights previously unknown people, memory of trauma and triumph, and significant historical moments; As a result of the project's research activities, an "identity map" was created, which is a visual representation of this unique history of the region.
