Niko Lomouri

Popular Writer, Public Figure, and Teacher - Niko Lomouri was born in 1852 in the village of Arbo in Gori district. By 1881, he had begun working as a teacher in Gori educational seminarium and women's gymnasium . He also went by various pseudonyms such as "Levan Tsaveli," "Arboeli," and "Goreli." His first poems were published earlier, in 1871 in the magazine "Mnatobi."

Niko Lomouri's poems and stories

In 1885, his poems and short stories were published as a separate book. His first significant work, which would define his creative life, was the story  "Ali." Other celebrated works in Lomouri’s back catalogue include "Berua Christesiashvili," "Kajana," and "Little Friends." Lomouri died in 1915 in Gori. In 1935, his remains were moved to the city’s Garden Yard and some words from "Ali" were carved on the stone.
