World-renowned Philosopher - Merab Mamardashvili was born in 1930 in the city of Gori. After living and studying there, he continued his studies at Tbilisi School No. 14. Later, in 1955, he graduated from the Faculty of Philosophy of Moscow State University, and went on to receive his doctoral degree in philosophical sciences in 1968.
From 1987 to 1990, Mamardashvili worked at the Georgian Academy of Sciences as the Head of the Philosophy of Natural Sciences Department of the Tsereteli Institute. At the same time, he delivered lectures at Tbilisi State University. At different times he gave lectures in Germany, France, and other countries too. His contributions to science and philosophy are widely recognized, including in particular his studies on Marcel Proust.
