Journalist - Anton Furtseladze was born in 1839 in Mereti, in Gori municipality. In 1861, Furtseladze started working with the magazine "Tsiskari" and later moved to the newspaper "Droeba." In 1867, he left Tbilisi and started working as a court investigator in Zugdidi. During this period, he worked on "Matsi Khvitia" and "Didi Mouravi ." In March 1869, the monthly scientific and literary magazine "Mnatobi" began to be published under his leadership. In 1873, Furtseladze became the editor of the first agronomic magazine in the Georgian language - "Gutnis Deda." In 1905, he was elected as the chairman of the bank for nobility . In 1911, Furtseladze moved to the village of Arbo where he took up permanent residence. Soon afterwards, he died (in 1913) and in accordance with his will, was buried in the village of Mereti.
