Anastasia Eristav-Khoshtaria

Writer and Public Figure - Anastasia Eristav-Khoshtaria was born in the village of Mejvriskhevi in 1868. She later graduated from Gori Progymnasium . In 1913, she founded the Georgian women's society "Mandilosani" in Gori, which she chaired from the day of its establishment until 1917. During the pre-revolutionary period in Gori, she fought for improvement in the cultural life of the city. She was the first Georgian writer to devote a large part of her work to women's issues. In addition, her work paid special attention to themes such as living conditions of the poor, loyalty to one’s country, and the power of love. Under her initiative, a school for kids from peasant families was opened in her village.
