Agalo Tutaev

Writer, Publicist,, and Philanthropist - Agalo Tutaev was born in 1842. His exact place of birth is unknown. He cooperated with the Georgian press (including "Droeba", "Iveria," and  "Temi" newspapers). Tutaev published journalistic letters, plays, and essays. In the 1870s, he was a driving force in the cultural and educational life of Gori. In 1877, together with Niko Diasamidze, he rebuilt the old rotunda of Gori at his own expense and founded a theater. He lived in Tbilisi in the 1880s, owning a paint factory and actively contributing to a variety of charity work (building schools, churches, monasteries, etc.). He established a library and reading room in his own house in the Didube district of Tbilisi.
